With Bradley away for the week in Tunisia, we've been making the most of having some couple time and James booked us a night away in Norfolk. The plan was to spend the day on the Cromer coast, visit friends that had moved to Cromer just under a year ago for a BBQ, then spend the following day at the Norfolk Broads. (Unfortunately rain stopped play the following day so we didn't get to visit the Broads this time)
The weather was gorgeous and once we'd arrived in Cromer, we spent a relaxing day in the sunshine on the beach.

Later in the afternoon we drove in search of our B&B. Tucked away off road sat The Barns at Thorpe Market. A quaint little converted barn, surrounded by pretty flower beds.. beautiful.
As we arrived, a couple were sat out on the veranda outside their room enjoying the sunshine, we walked down the walk way, through the pretty courtyard surrounded by beautiful flowers towards the reception.
The Barns at Thorpe Market say...
'If you are looking for a high quality Norfolk bed and breakfast, you've just found it. A charming 18th century brick and flint converted barn offering beautifully furbished en suite accommodation, all set in a elegant private courtyard..'

The Barns is run by couple Tony & Amanda, who were extremely welcoming and helpful. Amanda walked us to our room which had its own veranda. It was lovely and cool, very much needed after our day on the beach! The room was beautiful, and immaculately clean. Some old fashioned furniture with an up to date modern twist, all in keeping with the character of the barns. It was decorated nicely, and the bedding smelt of fresh laundry. The en suite bathroom was a perfect size, with fluffy white towels and everything we needed for a relaxing shower to cool us down. We were greeted with tasty homemade cakes, a very yummy gesture! There was plentiful tea, coffee, fresh mineral water and biscuits, and everything was spotless.
The pretty courtyard included both an outdoor, and a roofed seating area.
After our BBQ at friends, we headed back to The Barns for the night. It was very helpful with our room being self-contained, having our own door and key, so no having to worry about curfews or having to be let in, giving us the privacy and freedom to come and go as we pleased.
Breakfast, although a little early for us ;), was in the farm house style dining room. It was beautiful. There was lots of cold breakfast foods to choose from, and Tony took our order for a fresh cooked breakfast. All food was fresh, free-range and locally produced, even the eggs were from their own hens! :) We did miss having some beans tho! ;)
Overall, our stay at The Barns was lovely. Tony & Amanda are a lovely couple, who are more than happy to chat and help with anything.
If I had to pick up on anything, it would be the small fact that it is not too well sign posted from the road, so is a little tricky to find.
Would I recommend it?
Yes most definitely. If you're looking for somewhere to stay whilst on the Norfolk coast, give The Barns a visit! It is an adult only B&B so perfect for a romantic night away!Would I return?
Yes! We've already said we'll return to The Barns when we visit Norfolk, and our friends again. We'd like to try the room with the stone brick wall next time. ;)
Twin and double rooms are available at The Barns at Thorpe Market from £75.00 a night. Visit their website here.
