NOTW - Essie in Nice is nice

This weeks nails were chosen by a simple lucky dip. Eyes closed, hand in box.. and we have an Essie nail lacquer in Nice is Nice.

Essie say...
'Hot days by the beach and very cool nights in the clubs. This playful, whimsical light lavender nail colour is perfect for a chic holiday.'

TheBrunetteSays...
This is the only polish I have in my collection from the American brand Essie, but I'm a big fan of their range of colours; there are a few I have my eye on!! I have their 'Topless & Barefoot' and 'Sand Tropez' on my Wishlist.. :)
This one is from their 2011 Spring collection and named after the French city of Nice.

The polish applied really nicely, it's the perfect consistency to work with, although you have to be careful how much product is on the brush, as too much polish applied to the nail can leave a messy, uneven finish. The brush is a thick maxi brush which as you know, Im a big fan of.
A quick 2-3 sweeps and you're sorted. You MAY even get away with just one coat, as it's quite a thick formula, but I'm in the habit of applying 2 coats, which led to a smooth, shiny finish. Drying time is pretty normal, it was touch dry in a couple of minutes. The colour, is a very light lilac, almost light grey in some lights. I'm liking the colour!
One disappointment I did have was the smell. It has quite a strong smell which lingered a lot longer than most, I could still smell it hour later when I'd got into bed.

So, it's a week on and I'm still pretty happy with my nails, they're still in pretty good condition, still looking shiny with next to know wear at all, a few little chips around the regrowth area and a scratch or 2 upon close inspection. I could easily get away with keeping the polish on for a few more days if I wanted.
I love the colour, it's really versatile and went with, and worked well with, pretty much everything I wore this week.

Would I recommend it?
Yes, Essie is a great brand known for good quality, long lasting polishes. And as I mentioned, they have some amazing colours! This shade is perfect for day wear, night wear and occasional wear.

Would I repurchase it?
I'm going to be getting my hands on some more Essie lacquers, without a doubt!

Take a look at their range on the Superdrug website, all available at £7.99.

What do you think of this colour? What have you been wearing on your nails this week?

  1. I've never tried Essie Nail polish before.
The price tag outs me off a bit.
But yes whenever I'm in Boots I go over just to have a look at all the pretty colours that the collection has.
