NOTW - Chanel Le Vernis in Blue Rebel

I hadn't worn this nail polish in a long time. The first time I used it I wasn't impressed at all, and since then it has sat unused in my nail box. I decided to give it a second chance.

I love Chanel. It screams class. And their foundation is one of my all time faves!
This nail polish, in 'Blue Rebel' was part of their Autumn range back in 2011. It was part of 3 denim inspired shades, and I snapped one up whilst picking up some foundation. At £18, I expected big things from this nail polish.. But didn't get it. So.. lets give it another go.

Chanel Say..
'Intense colour and high gloss. Designed to be a real nail care product, it respects the fragile nature of your nails. The original formula ensures rapid drying and lasting hold. Le Vernis has an original formula, exclusive to Chanel, composed of special resins. The formula contains bioceramides of natural origin for their hardening action. A precise concentration of solvents gives a hard, resistant, gloss finish.'

TheBrunetteSays..
After my usual nail care mani, I began to apply the polish over my base coat.
The brush is very thin, which already is a big disappointment for me. I work so much better with a wide brush. With it being so thin, my application is slightly messier than normal, as a smaller brush can be quite tricky to use. It takes quite a lot of brush sweeps, and polish, to completely cover each nail. But after two coats the colour is completely opaque and I'm good to go.
I'm a big fan of the colour. I don't own many dark colours such as these. 'Blue Rebel' is a dark, navy blue and it has a lovely glossy shine to it.
I wasn't overly pleased with the finished look, my application wasn't too great. (as you can see in the pictures)
Drying time seemed to take a little longer than normal. But it seemed touch dry after a few minutes. Unfortunately I got up after 15-20minutes and proceeded to do some ironing, and managed to mess up a few of my nails. Grr.

I removed and reapplied polish to the nails I'd ruined the following day, and left it a good while to dry this time around. So note to self, 'THIS POLISH DOESNT DRY QUICKLY!'
Okay so, they were spot on when they promise 'Intense colour and high gloss' - that box is definitely ticked! I do love the colour, it was an intense colour, it went with everything I wore all week, nothing clashed. And it was super shiny all week long. They also promise that their polish contains a special ingredient to promote hardening of the nails. Hmm. One of my nails split and broke, after 3 days, and today another nail has split. Not happy. I beg to differ when they say their fomula ensures rapid drying and lasting hold too. Both times I have used this polish, it has taken longer than your usual polish to dry, and the majority of my nails are chipped, both at the bottom and the top.

Would I recommend it?
After my experience, probably not. It's a large price tag, and in my opinion you can get polishes that are much better quality, at a purse friendlier price.

Would I repurchase?
I wouldn't purchase another Chanel polish, no.
I'll use this polish again, for an occasion, if I'm wearing something that the colour will compliment. But I won't be adding any more Chanel to my nail collection.

Chanel polishes are available at £18, from Debenhams

What do you think of this colour? Have you got any Chanel in your collection?
